Who we are
This website is operated by Morris & Perry Limited ("we", "us", "our"),
a company registered in England and Wales under company number 00718683, whose
registered office is Tout Quarry, Charlton Adam, Somerton, Somerset, TA11 7AN and whose quarry, concrete plant and asphalt plant are at
Gurney Slade Quarry, Gurney Slade, Somerset BA3 4TE.
We have quarried at Gurney Slade since 1928 and supplied ready-mixed concrete from the plant
on site since 1963. We are a sister company of
S. Morris Ltd.
By using this website you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use
the site. We may update them, and the date of the current version is at the foot of this page.
Using this website
You may read this website, print or download extracts of it, and share its pages, for your own
use or for the purposes of your business or organisation.
You may not:
- copy any part of the site into another website, document or publication presented as your
own, or remove any notice of ownership from it;
- use the site, its forms, its chat or its photo estimate for anything other than a genuine
enquiry — and in particular not to send unsolicited advertising, to collect addresses,
or to submit anything unlawful, abusive or deliberately misleading;
- attempt to gain access to any part of the site, its server or its database that is not
made public, or interfere with how the site works for anybody else.
Nothing on this website is an offer to sell, and nothing on it is advice. It is a description
of what we make and deliver, with figures we publish so you can work out roughly what you
need before you call us.
The calculators, the volume checker and the photo estimate
Every figure this website gives you is a guide, not a
quotation, and not a specification. We confirm what you actually need, what it costs
and when we can deliver it when we speak to you.
Several pages on this site work something out for you: the concrete, asphalt and aggregate
calculators on the product pages, the postcode checker on the delivery page, and the photo
estimate in the panel at the corner of the screen, which reads a photograph of where the
material is going and sizes it up.
They use only our own published figures — the coverage and laying-depth tables, the mixer
capacity, the tonnes per cubic metre, and the mix guidance drawn from BS 8500 that is printed
on the relevant page. They are arithmetic applied to what you tell them. They do not survey
your site, they do not know your ground, and they cannot see what is under it.
In particular
- The mix shown is guidance only. Where a structure, a load-bearing slab, a
floor that will take traffic or any ground-bearing design is involved, the specification is
for your engineer or your designer to settle, not for this website and not for us. Our
guidance tables say so on the page and we repeat it here.
- Quantities are approximate. Excavations are rarely the shape they were drawn
as. Allow for that, and order on the generous side: a short pour cannot be rescued once the
mixer has gone.
- The photo estimate is a rough reading of a photograph. It tells you what it
measured against and how sure it is, and it asks you for the depth because the photograph
cannot show it. It is a starting point for a conversation, nothing more. No order is placed
by it and no price is fixed by it.
- The postcode checker is indicative. Whether we can actually deliver to a
given address depends on access, which is clause 05.
So far as the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from reliance on a figure
produced by one of these tools without it being confirmed by us. Clause 09 explains the limits
of our liability, and what is not limited.
Enquiries, prices and orders
Sending us an enquiry does not place an order, and we are not bound by anything until
we confirm it. An enquiry through this website — by the form, by the chat panel
or by the photo estimate — is an invitation for us to quote. A contract comes into
existence only when we confirm your order, which we do by telephone or in writing after we have
checked the material, the quantity, the access and the date.
Prices are not published on this website. They depend on the material, the quantity, where it
is going and when, and they are given on enquiry. A price we give you is open for acceptance
for the period stated with it, and if no period is stated, for 30 days.
Our published minimum loads and plant capacities apply to every order:
From our own product pages
| Aggregates | Supplied loose. Minimum load 1 tonne. 6-wheelers carry 16 tonnes
and 8-wheelers 20 tonnes. |
| Asphalt | Minimum load 1 tonne, collected or delivered. |
| Ready-mixed concrete | Supplied by volume in cubic metres. A mixer carries up to
7.5m³, and allow roughly five minutes per cubic metre to discharge. |
Where we supply goods to you in the course of your business, our conditions of sale apply to
the supply itself — payment, retention of title, delivery and the rest — and they
are given with your quotation and your order confirmation. Those conditions, not this page,
govern the sale. This page governs your use of the website.
We are open Monday to Friday 06.00 – 17.30 · Saturday 06.00 – 10.00 · Sunday Closed. An enquiry sent outside those hours is answered the next working day.
Delivery and site access
We deliver on our own fleet to all of Somerset and parts of Devon, Wiltshire and
Gloucestershire. Whether we can reach a particular address is a question about the address,
not the postcode, and we settle it with you before we confirm the order.
Delivery is to the nearest point our vehicle can safely and lawfully reach. You are
responsible for:
- safe, firm and adequate access for a loaded eight-wheeler or mixer, and somewhere suitable
to discharge;
- telling us beforehand about weight limits, width restrictions, low cables, soft ground,
overhanging trees, services under the access route or anything else that affects whether a
loaded vehicle can get in and out;
- having somebody there to receive and direct the delivery.
Where our driver judges that access is unsafe, that the ground will not carry the vehicle or
that discharging would risk damage or injury, the delivery will not be made. Our drivers'
judgement on the day is final, and it is about safety rather than willingness. Where we deliver
over ground or a surface at your request and against that judgement, we are not responsible for
damage to it.
Delivery times are given in good faith and are not guaranteed. Concrete and asphalt are
perishable and weather-dependent: a wet morning, a plant stoppage or a lorry held up on a
previous drop can move a slot, and we will tell you as soon as we know.
Certificates, declarations and data sheets
Our Downloads page publishes the paperwork for what we make:
declarations of performance and CE marking for each asphalt mix, certificates for each
aggregate size, our ISO documents and safety data sheets.
Each document applies to the mix, grade or product it names, and states its own dates and
reference numbers. Please check that the document you are relying on is the one for the product
you are buying, and that it is current. Where a certificate has reached its expiry date we will
supply the renewed version on request.
These documents are published for information and for your records. They declare the
performance they declare — no more, and nothing is added by their appearing here. If you
need a document that is not on the page, or a copy signed for a particular contract, ask us.
What belongs to whom
The text, photographs, drawings, diagrams, tables, calculators and design of this website
belong to us or to the people who licensed them to us, and are protected by copyright and by
the other rights that apply. Our name and our logo are ours.
You may link to any page of this site, provided you do so fairly, without suggesting any
approval or association that does not exist, and not in a frame that makes our pages look like
part of another site.
The standards referred to on this site — British Standards, the Asphalt Information
Service sheets and the rest — belong to the bodies that publish them.
Links to other websites
Where we link to another website — our sister company, our Facebook page, a map, a
standards body, an industry information sheet — we do so because we think it is useful.
We do not control those sites, we are not responsible for what is on them, and a link is not an
endorsement of everything they say or do.
Our liability for this website
We take care over what this website says and we keep it current, but we cannot promise that it
is free of error, or that the site will always be available or uninterrupted. We may change,
suspend or withdraw any part of it.
So far as the law allows, we exclude liability for any loss or damage arising from the use of
this website or from reliance on anything in it that has not been confirmed by us —
including loss of profit, loss of business, loss of contracts, wasted expenditure and any
indirect or consequential loss.
Nothing in these terms limits anything that cannot lawfully be
limited. That includes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence,
for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and, where you deal with us as a consumer, your
rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and any other right the law gives you that cannot be
excluded or restricted.
Our liability for goods we actually supply is dealt with by our conditions of sale, which come
with your quotation, and not by this page.
Your information
How we handle the information you give us through this website — through the enquiry
form, the chat panel, the photo estimate and the postcode checker — is set out in our
privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.
This website sets no cookies and carries no analytics or advertising trackers. The privacy
policy explains what that means and what the site does contact.
Governing law
These terms, and any dispute arising out of them or out of your use of this website, are
governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have
jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in
your own country.
If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
